ONWARD Presented at the 35th APASL Annual Meeting in Istanbul
The ONWARD was proudly represented at the 35th Annual Meeting of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL 2026), held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from 22 to 25 April 2026. As one of the most prominent hepatology congresses worldwide, APASL gathered clinicians, virologists and public health experts from across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and beyond — providing an ideal platform to introduce ONWARD to a truly global audience.
During the congress, ONWARD was featured through a dedicated poster presentation, showcasing the network’s One Health vision, its pan-European structure, and the activities of the five Working Groups.
Sharing ONWARD’s work at APASL was also a strategic step toward strengthening collaboration with Asia-Pacific partners, whose contribution to hepevirus research is invaluable: the only currently approved HEV vaccine (Hecolin) was developed in China, and Rocahepevirus ratti was first identified in Hong Kong.
We thank the APASL organisers for the warm hospitality in Istanbul and all colleagues who stopped by our poster to engage with ONWARD’s work. Connecting across continents is at the heart of what ONWARD stands for — and APASL 2026 marked another meaningful milestone on that path.
